What is a Usage Limit and Download Limit
In association to a Broadband Plan, a Usage Limit refers to the packets of information (data) that are constantly being sent (uploaded) and received (downloaded) from a computer to the Internet. Your ISP will generally measure your overall limit once per month. A Download Limit will count what you download only and your ISP will only charge you for such. However where the term 'Usage Limit' applies, it may infact mean that you will be charged for both upload and download usage. You can usually monitor your usage limit online so that you can keep track of how much you download and upload. Most ISP’s generally calculate usage from what you download, as uploading information (sending) is typically free, although there is an esculating trend that sees ISP's introducing charges for both upload and download usage now.
Various ISP’s may also use different terminology when referring to a monthly download limit. These alternatives may include: allowance, usage, or quota and if so, it's crucial that you understand what these description entail. ie. Some of them may count download usage only whereas other may count both upload and download usage?
