What is the difference between a Static IP and a Dynamic IP address
Firstly, an IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.1) identifies a computer (or any device) connected to a network (e.g. Internet). Your Provider will assign you an IP in one of two ways. It’s through the process of having an IP address that data can be sent to the correct place. A Static IP address is the same every time you connect to a network (e.g. Internet). Whereas a dynamic IP address may change each time you connect. Think of it like your home address or telephone number, if you keep moving or changing these numbers, nobody will know where or how to contact you. So unless you are planning on running your own Web or Mail server, then a Static IP is not required. Still confused? If you think you’re going to be using the internet for general things like surfing, downloading, emailing etc… then you don’t require a Static IP.
