What will I require to get started on Broadband

Initially, you will have to find out what types of Broadband are available to you in your area, and how long your chosen Broadband type will take to get connected. If you’re not sure, it’s best to contact your prospective Provider. Then, you will have to consider what Speed and Download Limit (Broadband Plan) is best for you. These can often come as a Bundled Plan (e.g. Phone, PAY TV & Internet). Again if you’re not sure, it could be a good idea to contact your prospective Provider or start on one of the medium level lower plans as you can usually always upgrade your Plan ‘cost free’. Next on the list would be purchasing the Broadband Internet Plan (includes connection fee and or possibly installation fee if required) & hardware such as a Modem, Router, Network Card (to connect to Internet), or Mobile Card (Wireless). Most Providers give you the option of purchasing the equipment through them. Satellite Broadband products may involve more expensive hardware and plan types opposed to that of ADSL, Cable & Wireless products, so it’s best to enquire with your prospective Provider in this case. Broadband Guide usually advertises the contact methods/ph. numbers of Providers and if you do happen to call them, don’t forget to ask them about any special offers that may be running as it could save you hundreds of dollars. Finally, your Computer (PC, Mac or Laptop) should meet your Broadband type requirements too. This information can be found in ‘What are the recommended system requirements for Broadband?’
