Naked DSL Broadband

About Naked DSL Broadband

Naked DSL is fundamentally ADSL Broadband without a Home Phone Line service attached. Recent amendments within the industry forced a dramatic price reduction for wholesale access to Australia's copper Public switched Telephone Network. Unconditioned local loop services (ULLS) and line sharing services (LSS) which are used by ISP to offer Naked Dsl plans now cost a fraction of the price they once were. This has allowed the way for Naked DSL Providers to include the relatively small access fee of a phone line into their Naked DSL plans. Due to these wholesale cost reductions imposed by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission watchdog (ACCC), Naked DSL Providers are now becoming extremely popular for their value for money voice and broadband services along with cheap Naked DSL Plans.

Consumers seeking to save money on Naked Broadband products are typically those who extensively use, and prefer, their mobile phone over a home phone. With mobile phone providers offering exceptional value in mobile phone plans and caps these days, many such users are taking up Naked DSL packages ad doing away with their plain old telephone service. Adding a Voice over Internet Protocol service (VoIP) is a great substitute for a home phone service as rental is usually 'free' and incorporated into a Naked ADSL plan and local, national and international phone call rates are typically a few cents untimed or per minute.

As a new Broadband type offering, Naked DSL first appeared in Australia back in November 2007 and was introduced by smaller to intermediate sized Internet Service Providers. This type of broadband service was an alternative option for many users who wanted to rid themselves of costly home phone line rental fees. Furthermore, it was an opportunity for smaller providers to pick up respective customers from the likes of Australia's larger Telecommunication Providers who refrained from offering Naked DSL services as there was too much at stake with the revenue made from traditional PSTN line rentals.

Naked DSL continues to grow and is fast becoming a major Broadband service type due to its cost effectiveness and gradual coverage expansion. If you’re eligible for a general ADSL2+ Broadband connection in your area or region, then the chances are you may be eligible to obtaining Naked DSL service. Although there is no sure way of checking for Naked DSL availability without speaking directly to a Naked DSL customer service representative, you can still perform a telephone number check for an ADSL2+ service. As long as you have an existing Telstra copper phone line connection at your place of residence, and are aware of that Internet Service Provider offer ADSL2+ services in your area, then there’s a good chance that Naked DSL will be available to you.

Many people are constantly switching to Naked DSL broadband plans, or transferring to an ISP who offers Naked DSL products until the upcoming National Broadband Network is built. We expect Naked DSL to become a leading broadband type in the short term future as it might be quite some time away until the NBN is fully functional. You can bet your bottom dollar, in the meantime, that Naked DSL plans will continue to grow in popularity due to their cost effective value for money attributes.
