We have had our broadband speed tester going for over ten years now. For a recent project, we compiled speed test results from the city of Adelaide.
Adelaide Internet speeds remained consistent for almost a decade, but over the last few years, we have seen improvement in broadband speeds.
|Year||City||Average Download Speed||Average Upload Speed|
|2007||Adelaide||2.01 mbps||0.44 mbps|
|2008||Adelaide||2.10 mbps||0.44 mbps|
|2009||Adelaide||3.63 mbps||0.70 mbps|
|2010||Adelaide||3.66 mbps||0.58 mbps|
|2011||Adelaide||4.30 mbps||0.70 mbps|
|2012||Adelaide||6.26 mbps||0.97 mbps|
|2013||Adelaide||6.01 mbps||1.25 mbps|
|2014||Adelaide||6.24 mbps||1.08 mbps|
|2015||Adelaide||6.30 mbps||0.95 mbps|
|2016||Adelaide||6.78 mbps||1.12 mbps|
|2017||Adelaide||8.26 mbps||4.58 mbps|
As you can see above download speed has increased by around 2 Mbps. Upload speeds, however, upload speeds have increased four-fold. From what we can see in our speed test data this is due to the NBN availability in parts of Adelaide and also better and faster mobile broadband networks.
